Wayson Choy was born in Vancouver. The only son of two working parents, he was cared for in a variety of Chinese households. He teaches English at Humber College in Toronto. His stories have been published in a number of anthologies. His latest novel All That Matters, the sequel to The Jade Peony, was nominated for the Scotiabank Giller Prize
