Herménégilde Chiasson is one of Acadia's best-known poets; he is also a painter, filmmaker and playwright. He studied visual arts at Mount Allison University, Université de Moncton and New York University, and received his PhD from the Sorbonne. His poetry has won the Governor General's Award and twice won the Prix France-Acadie. In 1990 the government of France named him a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. He has produced some fifteen films, written twenty plays and exhibited his paintings and photographs in galleries around the world. Climates, winner of the Governor General's Award, is his latest work in English translation
