Pierre Berton is Canada's foremost popular historian. He is a three-time winner of the Governor General's Award for Non-Fiction, a Companion of the Order of Canada and a member of the Newsman's Hall of Fame. He has published more than forty-five books, which have redefined Canadian popular history, the most recent of which, Marching as to War, dominated the bestseller list throughout 2002.
