New Book Deal Signed for Adam Lewis Schroeder

September 2011

Chris Labonté, acquiring editor for Douglas & McIntyre, has acquired World rights to a wild new novel by Adam Lewis Schroeder called All-Day Breakfast.

Peter Giller never met a problem he couldn't run away from. After the death of his wife, he and his two young kids beat a path across Nebraska, Peter finding work as a substitute teacher - but never for long. The town of Hoover would have been just another pit stop, too, if it weren't for a field trip to a nearby plastics factory - a pipe bursts, and Peter and a class of Grade Nine students are sprayed with a burst of pink goo. Soon after, they find themselves with violent tempers, limbs shaking loose from their joints, unquenchable cravings for bacon - and minds that grow less human by the day.

Armed only with a shovel he once used to bury his dog, Peter sets out on a mythical search for the cure to his horrifying condition. On the road, he meets monsters and bureaucrats, bacon enthusiasts and amorous farm-girls - all the while racing against his mind, which steadily corrodes, leaving only its basest instincts: eating, and killing.

Surreal, grotesque and crackling with pitch-dark humour, All-Day Breakfast is a wild, riveting road novel for an apocalyptic age.

Douglas & McIntyre will publish All-Day Breakfast in September 2012.
